"Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering."
— Nicole Krauss (The History of Love)
Nehemiah and Ashley have been dear friends of mine for a couple of years and truth be told, they are one of my favorite couples to be around. I had ideas for their engagement session before they even hired me to do their wedding/engagement photo's ( guess it was meant to be) and I was beyond excited to get these shots. First thing first, I had to get permission from the owner and well that became a daunting task. See I have had my eye on this location for months, with it's random oddities it had my head bouncing with ideas. Every time I passed by, the gate was closed and the number on the sign was no longer in service. I had the idea that I would write a note and attach it to a mylar balloon and throw it over the fence (who could miss that, right?) The day I was going to do just that God decided to open the heavens with a torrential down pour...let's just say my idea was definitely nixed. So we went ahead with our plans because deep in my heart I knew I would be able to get the shots I envisioned there. The day of their engagement session I woke up ridiculously early hoping to be able to catch the owner. When I got there the gates were open and guess who who was standing right at the gate? The owner! I gave him a brief overview of who I was and what I wanted to do on his property. At first he looked at me a little cockeyed after I started off with " Sir you have some interesting stuff and I, well, um I would like to photograph my friends with it." After a second or two he said yes and that "he had to go." I was so stoked! Below is what unfolded on that beautiful day.
Meet Pedro, I found him thirty minutes before the shoot and decided he would be fun joining us for our session. He has since been invited to the wedding, ha!
This was a fun shot to get and I was nervous going into the record store to ask them, but in all honesty they were so laid back and happy to oblige.
This is part of thier wedding invitation, I thought it was so awesome they printed thier invitations out on clear plastic vellum.
I can not wait to photograph thier wedding at the Post Card Inn on St.Pete Beach this summer. It is such a picture friendly, unique setting. I can't wait!
